Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
We are kicking off the year with a focus on two of our ongoing projects.
On Saturday 6th January, we will hopefully be collecting and installing the timber for the dog splash.
Timing to be confirmed, but we will be looking for some "muscle" for a couple of hours in the morning to move it into place and dig out the slots to hold it.
We are really excited to be moving this long overdue project forward.
Sunday 7th January and Saturday 20th January will see us back onto our Dorset Peat Partnership mire restoration project where we have been working since the Autumn.
We have until the end of February to complete our side of the work, to be out the way before their is a risk of disturbing the wildlife on this sensitive site. The work must be completed this Winter, so the contractor can complete the next stage late Summer.
We have pencilled in our February task days for this project to, on Sunday 4th February and Saturday 17th February.
See below for the details of these task days (they haven't changed!).
Weekdays!
I know we keep promising it, but we really do plan to start doing some.
Although no dates yet, we are planning two before the end of February.
One to continue with the mire restoration at Cannon Hill North and the other just up the road at Whitesheet Hill.
Whitesheet is the other local DPP mire restoration project site and is a great opportunity to be involved in the work (mainly be completed by contractors) on this Site of Special Scientific Interest.
More details to follow.
Tasks and details for our CHN mire restoration volunteer task days -

For those that have not been before or recently -
We are onsite from 9am - 3pm ish You are welcome to come and go at times convenient to you.
Stay for the whole session or pop along for a couple of hours.
We always have a plentiful supply of hot and cold drinks and biscuits.
Sausages in bread at lunchtime for those that would like it.
Tools, gloves, training and safety brief provided.
We now have a good supply of new bowsaws and loppers courtesy of the Dorset Peat Partnership, so nobody will be left with ropey old tools!
