Originally we were hoping to continue where we left off with the clearance and burning of Rhododendron.
Unfortunately due to Phytophthora Ramorum (sudden oak death disease) that is carried by the plant the Forestry Commission has decided that they will need to spray them rather than cut and burn them, to minimise the risk of spreading the disease.
Following requests from some of you we can confirm that we will almost certainly be doing some work north of the A31 as well this time.
The Forestry Commission have most kindly managed to source some picnic benches and bird boxes for us that we hope to install. The final plans are still to be agreed, but other tasks might include building habitat piles and cutting back the overgrown bridle way running down from the burial mound.
More details to follow.
