Work Party Report 7th May 2017

11/5/2017

Another great morning with over 40 hours of volunteer work spent in Cannon Hill North.  20 more bird boxes went up and brash was cleared from the viewpoint slope and used to create 2 habitat piles. The burial mound was cleared of brambles, pine and bracken which should encourage the heather that is growing on it and allow people to see this historic monument more clearly.  The fence around it has been repaired where possible and surrounding vegetation also cleared.
It was great to have some new faces, including Emma and Millie who were working with us for their Girl Guides community award.
Excuse the poor selection of photos, the first 2 were before, the 3rd after and a couple of the birdbox installation.

Work Party This Sunday 7th May

2/5/2017

This Sunday we will be in Cannon Hill North from 9am ish  until 1pm ish.
We will base ourselves up at the burial mound view point, so it is suitable for anyone to just pop along for a while.
We will be cutting back the vegetation on and around the burial mound and installing more bird boxes (a little late for this year, but should be nicely acclimatised for next).
Other tasks could include litter picking and creating habitat piles from the brash on the wooded slopes. (No bonfires until the autumn now).
Tasks can be found for all ages and abilities. (Children to be accompanied by an adult please)
Training, tools, gloves and refreshments provided.
